Experience the Dazzling Light of the Rock Island Swing Bridge
Discover the beauty of the Mississippi River, the rich history of the Rock Island Swing Bridge, and now—breathtaking light shows every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM through Labor Day.
This historic bridge has played many roles. Originally built as a double decker swing bridge, it carried cars on the lower deck, trains above, and allowed boats to pass below. It has witnessed everything from horse-drawn carriages and tolls cost 75 cents to being used as an escape route by the infamous John Dillinger. Once nearly demolished, the bridge has withstood the test of time and now stands as a powerful reminder of our past and a stunning local attraction.
Thanks to the efforts of many, the bridge has served as a scenic recreational pier for years, stretching over 600 feet over the Mississippi River. Now, enhanced with vibrant LED lights, it offers dazzling evening displays that make this historic landmark sparkle like never before.
